Welcome to Tikkun!
Since 2008, Tikkun’s Permaculture center has developed as a beautiful and inspiring community hub for education, climate activism, and ecological restoration.
For two years during COVID 19 we ran a farm food bank and our Home Gardens Project continues to help local families grow their own healthy organic food. But climate change and drought are driving our mission to build greater food and water security for our semi-arid region.
In 2023 we are organizing to expand our model reservoir restoration project to 20 more communities in our region.
We plan to reforest the reservoirs with 50,000 trees donated by the Department of Ecology, composting and mulching them with 10,000 meters of hyacinths currently choking the Presa Allende.
This project is a model that can be replicated and scaled up throughout Mexico to immediately increase water and food security in rural communities most vulnerable to the climate crisis.
The vision of the Tikkun Eco Center is of repair and healing at every level, from the personal, through the community, to the global. We believe it is our spiritual duty to heal the damage to our world caused by ignorance and greed, and to do everything possible to secure a livable future for our children, our grandchildren, and all beings on our sacred and beautiful Earth.
