EARTH SCHOOL
Ecological Service Learning
Inspiring the next generation to be stewards of Life on Earth
Tikkun’s beautiful Permaculture center has been a destination for school field trips in the San Miguel community for nearly ten years.
We invite young people to discover their role as stewards of Earth’s ecosystems, inspiring hope in our time of climate change by engaging in ecological restoration service, such as planting native trees, restoring rainwater reservoirs and watersheds, and developing community gardens. Such work roots them in a deeper sense of place and empowers them to become agents of positive change.
We work year-round with students from primary school through university. In 2024 we will be:
Partnering with local and international NGOs to develop more comprehensive educational and service learning experiences
Developing curriculum and materials for teachers and students
Working with local schools to craft tailored programs to best suit their needs
Offering special programs for University credit
Developing a Train the Trainers program for next generation capacity building
Helping develop career paths for environmental restoration work in San Miguel
