TIKKUN ECO CENTER

San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

Our mission is to foster a world of greater resilience, abundance and peace for future generations.

Welcome to Tikkun!

We are a registered non-profit located in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Tikkun Eco Center is a beautiful and inspiring hub for ecological education and restoration work.

We are focused on building ecological resilience for rural communities most vulnerable to climate change impacts.

REFORESTATION FOR CLIMATE RESILIENCE

Tikkun is part of a global forestation movement harnessing the power of nature to heal the planet and protect our communities.

Tikkun’s reforestation work takes place on our land and in surrounding communities as part of our Agua Para la Vida reservoir restoration program.

Since 2008 Tikkun has planted over 3000 native, non-native, ornamental and fruit trees on our property, along with cacti and Magueyes, creating a uniquely beautiful oasis and microclimate and providing habitat for birds, insects, and other wildlife.

In 2025, Tikkun will expand our reforestation program and build a new vivero to propagate dozens of new varieties of native and endemic species of trees, bushes and cacti.

AGUA PARA LA VIDA

Tikkun is building water resilience for rural communities.

The Tikkun Agua Para la Vida project restores traditional rainwater reservoirs in rural farming villages surrounding San Miguel de Allende impacted by drought, toxic well water, and climate extremes.

This model of ecological repair ensures greater water and food security in our most vulnerable communities, and creates resilience to climate change for the San Miguel region.

TIKKUN EARTH SCHOOL

Tikkun offers students the opportunity to learn and implement ecological solutions for the health of their communities.

The Tikkun Earth School hosts students, Kindergarten through University, Mexican, expat, or international service learning groups.

We invite young people to discover their role as stewards of Earth’s ecosystems, by engaging in ecological service, planting native trees, restoring rainwater reservoirs and watersheds, and developing community gardens. Such work roots them in a deeper sense of place and empowers them to become agents of positive change.

OUR CENTER

Our Center is a beautiful demonstration site offering education, workshops, volunteer opportunities, internships, tours and retreats.

Tikkun Eco Center is located 30 minutes north of the center of San Miguel de Allende.

In the past decade, we have transformed our 3 hectares from dry scrub brush into an oasis of beauty and abundance.

Our off-grid center includes green building with adobe, extensive water catchment systems and ponds, organic gardens and orchard, bee hives, and thousands of trees, cactus, vines and flowers. We now attract wildlife and seasonal migrations of butterflies!

OUR VISION

We believe it is a spiritual and moral duty to heal the damage to our world and to ensure an abundant and beautiful future for our children, our grandchildren, and all beings on Earth.

You carry Mother Earth within you. She is not outside of you.

Mother Earth is not just your environment.

In that insight of inter-being, it is possible to have real communication with the Earth, which is the highest form of prayer.”

- Thich Naht Hahn
